Joburg residents flock to Hyde Park Corner to sample the wares of SA’s top producers

Sanlam Handmade Contemporary Fair

From 9 – 11 October the rooftop parking lot of Hyde Park Corner was transformed to become home to 120 talented local producers for the sixth annual Sanlam Handmade Contemporary Fair. A firm favourite on the Joburg social calendar, the Fair applauds local producers in the food, wine and design industries who have honed their skills, and offers these artisans a platform to showcase their work.

With a refreshed, breezy aesthetic by featured designer Mia Widlake, a more spacious layout, 54 new exhibitors and two new seating areas – a Bloody Mary Lounge and festive Beer Garden – the 2015 Fair did not disappoint. Over the course of the weekend 12 500 visitors braved the Joburg heatwave to engage with artisanal food producers, celebrated chefs, boutique wineries and craft distilleries as well as furniture and textile designers, jewellers, ceramicists and more.
