Atmosphere named most admired agency in SA

Atmosphere is the most admired PR agency in South Africa, as voted by our peers in the recent annual Agency Leaders poll. This is the inaugural introduction of the PR category to the poll, which made the recognition particularly special.

In a time of radical transparency, heightened innovation and global market volatility, PR is playing an integral role in helping businesses to achieve their bottom-lines whilst navigating fast-paced change and the pressure to contribute positively to communities and society as a whole.

In light of this, Atmosphere is continuously adapting our offerings to ensure we help our clients to meet their deliverables through disruptive storytelling that pushes beyond boundaries to achieve measurable results. It’s an honour to be recognised for this by our peers. reported the following reasons for our receipt of the award, “With new clients Cell C, BBC Studios and Lufthansa, combined with existing clients Capitec, Sanlam, Pepsico and Santam, a 17% revenue growth in total income in 2018 and the most-awarded PR agency in 20 years of the PRISMs (having brought home nine awards last year), Atmosphere Communications is our inaugural Most Admired PR Agency.”

Our regional director, Megann Outram, called 2018 a roller-coaster year for agencies everywhere. “The economic environment created uncertainty and some of our local and global clients took a wait-and-see attitude, with bigger projects being put on hold. Margins were under pressure and the conversion between marketing disciplines created confusion — and of course, for some of us, opportunities, too.”

The opportunity for PR is immense, “PR specialists are now more important than ever before, giving frank counsel on the need to assist brands to keep communications upfront, simple, consistent, and authentic. There is also a lesson to be learnt and that pandering to popular public dialogue to further a brand’s agenda could backfire. The public can spot superficiality a mile away.”

Authenticity is critical. There’s nothing more important than being honest, upfront and sincere. With 2019 already well underway, we plan to keep doing what we do best – telling stories that matter whilst positively impacting the world around us.
