Capitec Bank matches R10 for every ticket sold and donates towards Education in South Africa

As a headline sponsor for The Color Run, Capitec Bank has made a commitment to donate R10 for every ticket sold towards education. For the 2015 series, Capitec donated just over R500 000 which went to various schools across the country.

The community benefits directly from the sponsorship through a partnership with the Adopt-a-School Foundation, a non-profit organisation supporting the creation and improvement of learning and teaching environments in disadvantaged schools. Capitec shares the same values as the Foundation, to strive to address the inequalities and inadequacies in basic education. Together these organisations work to create positive learning experiences which will lead to greater opportunities for South Africa’s youth.

“We give back to schools as we believe education is crucial to life improvement in the communities we serve. It’s also a perfect fit for our education-focused corporate investment. The Color Run helps us get closer to our communities. It gives us the opportunity to fulfil the responsibility we have towards the communities we operate in, and where we employ and serve local people,” says Charl Nel, head of Marketing and Communications at Capitec Bank.

Capitec Branch staff travel out to the schools identified in their region for a formal handover celebration. Proceeds raised pay for tools and resources to help build and maintain facilities such as science labs, vegetable gardens, and libraries – depending on the need of the school.
